Poetry: Invitation to a Housewarming

To my beloveds

Come, dear ones, the door is ajar
Let’s walk across the threshold
to a new beginning

Bring your salt and your bread
Your herbs and your songs,
Your deep forest dancing,
Your potions and your poems

Even if this house
is just a stop-
a temporary shelter-
along the way

Let us honor and celebrate
Every step we take
In the direction
Of liberation

Bring your Monday blessings-
And your Tuesday ones too.

Bring your chants and your prayers,
Call in the ancestors
Bow down to their descendants

Tell your stories.
Forgive.
Open your heart to love.

Come, renewed,
out of the healing
waters of the Jordan
washed away, the harm
and the sorrow
in the purifying streams,

For we shall turn mourning to laughter
Deck the doorway in garlands of hope
As we welcome in the morning
Of this new day.
